Haun Specialty Gas, Inc. (Haun), a gas and welding supply company, will invest $767,000 to renovate and equip its existing warehouse facility in the City of Syracuse, Onondaga County in order to bring manufacturing of dry ice in-house. Haun currently sources dry ice from other companies, which are primarily located outside of NYS. In recent years, the market for dry ice has increased rapidly due to the growth in its uses beyond food handling and transport, to now include biomedical, university research, agriculture (wine-making and hemp extraction), and commercial cleaning. The project will result in diversification of Haun’s product offerings, and will add 8 jobs to the company’s existing local workforce of 55. The company, along with its related company Haun Welding Supply, Inc., employ a total of 221 in NYS.
